After checking in and refreshing, we embark on our first significant spiritual experience. Our destination is the sacred Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, located approximately 30 km from Aurangabad. This ancient shrine, one of the twelve revered Jyotirlinga temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, holds immense significance for devotees. The temple's architecture, primarily built of red lava rock, showcases intricate carvings and a peaceful atmosphere conducive to prayer and reflection. Unlike Ellora, the Ajanta Caves are exclusively Buddhist, comprising about 30 rock-cut caves dating from the 2nd century BCE to about 480 CE. These caves are renowned worldwide for their stunning mural paintings and exquisite sculptures, which are considered masterpieces of Buddhist religious art. The paintings vividly depict the Jataka tales – stories of the Buddha's previous incarnations – alongside depictions of court life, common people, and mythological figures. You will be awe-struck by the vibrant colours and intricate details that have survived for centuries. We recommend comfortable walking shoes as there is a fair amount of walking involved. Understanding that plans can change, we offer a transparent cancellation policy. Cancellations made 30 days or more prior to the tour departure date will incur a minimal administrative fee. Cancellations between 15 and 29 days before departure will attract a 50% cancellation charge of the total package cost. For cancellations made less than 15 days before the departure date, the full package cost will be forfeited. No refunds will be issued for no-shows or early departures from the tour. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances that may lead to tour cancellation or interruption.

Carry a small daypack for essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, a hat, and a camera. For temple visits, it's customary to remove shoes, so easy-to-remove footwear is practical. Keep your travel documents, identification (Aadhar card/Passport), and e-tickets readily accessible. A basic first-aid kit with any personal medications is also recommended.

Need to Know

The best time to visit Aurangabad and its surrounding sites is during the winter months, from October to March, when the weather is pleasant and conducive to sightseeing. Summers (April to June) can be very hot, and the monsoon season (July to September) brings heavy rainfall which might affect road conditions and visibility. All monuments are generally open from sunrise to sunset, with Mondays being a holiday for Ajanta Caves and Tuesdays for Ellora Caves. However, we ensure our itinerary is planned to avoid these closures. Photography is usually permitted without flash inside the caves, but videography might incur extra charges. While our package covers entrance fees, do carry some Indian Rupees (INR) for personal expenses, local snacks, and souvenirs. It is advisable to maintain respectful decorum at religious sites.
